What Is Green, Earth-friendly or Eco-friendly?
Ah, an often pondered question, with many answers. At Sonoma Living Green we judge a product as being worthy of the green descriptor if using the product will help to reduce our carbon footprint in some way. So we look for products that are better than the commonly available alternative, made using recycled, renewable or organic materials, made out of materials that are recyclable or compostable, an encouragement to discontinue use of something that is harmful to the environment, or uses less energy to make it. If we held each product to all of these criteria, we would not be able to bring you anything. But we try for as many of them as possible.
Where Are Your Products Made?:
We try to carry products made in the USA. We do also purchase products made in other countries as long as their value makes them a good option and if they are produced in factories using certified fair-trade labor. We also support products made by artisans from rural villages around the world that rely on their hand-made products to sustain their communities.
Do you use earth-friendly shipping materials?

Some of our larger building products are dropped shipped from the manufacturer, so we are not in control of their materials.

For the products that we ship from our warehouse, we purchase eco-friendly boxes and packing materials. However, we believe that it is a green act to reuse anything we can, even if what you’re reusing is not green. The longer we can keep something out of the landfill, the better! So you may at times find non-eco-friendly packing materials in your shipments. Those would be materials that we received in a shipment from someone else. We encourage you to reuse all the boxes and packing materials as much as you can.

Do you sell carbon credits?
Not at this time. If that is something you would like us to handle, please let us know. If enough people are interested, we’ll certainly look into it.
