Our Company
Nancy Beeken created Sonoma Living Green because she feels passionately about caring for the environment and wanted to shop in a manner that reflected that. After many years of doing her small part to reduce her carbon footprint (long before there was such a term), she was excited about the increased awareness of the steps we can all take to help protect our environment and reduce waste.
Even with the increased awareness, there was still a lack of eco-friendly products when it came time to go shopping. She wanted to shop in a store where everything was vetted to insure that the products she purchased were in some way eco friendly. Oh and one more thing, she didn’t want to give up style!
So she put her 30 years of marketing and creative design experience to work and created just such a boutique. Sonoma Living Green offers eco friendly and organic gifts and products for the environmentally conscious shopper.
She recruited her husband Arthur to be an advisor to the new company because he shares her green passion and is a wealth of information about green living. He has 30 years experience as a General Contractor and is a Certified Green Builder and now focuses on home energy performance. He provides valuable input about sustainable materials and steps in the manufacturing processes.
Starting from Sonoma County, where Nancy lives, she searches the globe for eco-friendly products and shares them with her customers, so that we can all meet the challenge of living green. Products are all either made from recycled or sustainable materials, are recyclable themselves or somehow reduce our carbon footprint.
For most of us, the task of becoming green seems overwhelming, but it doesn’t have to be. All green products are not created equal, there are shades of green. As old products are swapped out for new ones, we can look for the greener alternative. We can, each day, try to use a little less water, a little less gas and use more recyclable, sustainable, compostable and recycled materials-based products to help reduce waste in our landfill. If isn’t so overwhelming if we think of it in terms of ‘Creating Smaller Footprints One Step At A Time’.
And going green does not have to be at the expense of style and does not have to be expensive. She hopes you’ll find Sonoma Living Green’s products to be stylish and able to blend nicely into your home décor.
